2013 Volunteer Appreciation Program

How it Works:

Every month each active volunteer will receive a token of our appreciation. Below you will see a listing of each month and the coordinating “thank you” planned.

An active volunteer means that you have volunteered a minimum of 8 hours per month.

The prize for December is dependent on the amount of hours you have accumulated for the entire year. For every 20 hours volunteered you will earn one ticket to be entered into a draw for our grand prize. This prize is kept a secret until the night of our Annual Volunteer Christmas Social.

Remember: The more volunteer hours + More tickets in December = better odds!

JUST ANOTHER REMINDER that our Groundbreaking Ceremony is this coming weekend - Saturday, July 14th at 1:00 PM in Brechin on O'Neill St. (O'Neill St. runs west of Highway 12 just before the stoplights in Brechin).  If you could attend this exciting event, it would be greatly appreciated.  Builds Nos. 5 & 6 are now a reality with volunteers to be on the site as of the first couple of weeks of September.  Carol Sharpe is working on organizing Adopt-A-Days with businesses and organizations, so if you can help with contacts - please let Carol know.  Doug Nicholls is again our Build Chair with John Spielbergs as Co-Chair.  We are still looking for core crew and crew leaders for this build, so if you know of anyone with construction experience and with the time to spare, please also get in touch with Carol Sharpe or Doug Nicholls.

Hello all & continued thanks for all your volunteer efforts on behalf of H4H, Orillia ReStore.  Hope you're stll having tons of fun & smiling.  After such a glorious May 24 weekend, how could we not!

Couple of points of interest—the Brechin Farmer's Market opened this past weekend, and alhough it had some competition from a local rummage sale—there was interest in our ReStore and our Brechin build, and lots of information handed out.  If you're in the area, drop by and look for our booth—or as we get busier come and visit and help out for an hour or so ... :)

Big news in Brechin—June 9th—the Canadian Lumberjack Championships are being held at the Community Ball Park - TSN will be there filming for a show - 70 vendors will be set up in the infield—we should have a booth represented there with all the attention this event will draw—especially with our next home going up in Brechin!!!

Also, our summer Orillia events calendars are coming out, and we usually have an information booth set up at each event.  If you're comfortable answering questions about Habitat, and referring people to our ReStore plus trying to recruit volunteers, maybe this is something you'd like to get involved in as the nicer weather approaches.  The Port of Orillia is always exciing and busy—we generate a lot of excellent communicaion at these sites and events and meet some interesting people.  We are always well received.

Point to consider--Ivan and Beven's regular days off are Sunday and Monday.  Should a long weekend extend to Monday, they are entitled to another day off - I believe they're considering the Tuesday following a long weekend.  If you are a Tuesday volunteer, you might want to confirm that the ReStore is going to be open.  Check our website for announcements or ask!

Finally, we will be generating some Volunteer Info Bulletins on our website.  Check it out every week or two, as I, or other commitee members, may be posting something of interest to you through our Habiat ReStore or Affiliate.

Have a great week, and I hope to see you in the ReStore soon.

Regards,

Dayle Rochon
