Be a Partner. Apply for a Home.
The Habitat for Humanity homeownership program is based on the principle of giving families a hand up, not a hand-out.
Applicants complete a detailed Home Partnership Application form which is submitted, in strict confidence, to our Family Selection Committee. The entire process of selecting a Family Partner could take 18 months. Applications are reviewed by the Family Selection Committee. All applicants are informed by letter of the decision made by the committee. Qualifying applicants are invited to an informal meeting to further discuss their application. The next step is one or two home visits by two or three members of the Family Selection Committee. Selected families are presented to the Board of Directors for their approval. Supporting documentation is required to verify the applications. The Family Selection Committee of Habitat for Humanity has a policy of confidentiality of information. Selection of partner families is conducted in a manner that does not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, sex, colour, or marital status, etc. Who Qualifies for a Habitat Home?People in inadequate, substandard living conditions.
