'Holes for Habitat' Golf Tournament

We are hosting our 5th annual golf tournament on Thursday September 17, 2009 at Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club. It is an 18 hole 4 person scramble. The day includes a BBQ lunch, a great gift bag, a great prize selected by the golfer from the prize table, all with a full course Roast Beef dinner. Each golfer has chances at winning the large dollar value items that are raffled and performance prizes.

This tournament is our main fundraising event and has been very successful in previous years. Cost is $150 per golfer or $600 per foursome. A big part of the success of the tournament also comes from being hole and green sponsors for $165 and through other corporate donations that we receive.

Buy a House. Build a Home.

The 2009 "Buy a House. Build a Home." fundraising campaign will run until Sunday, August 30th and involve the sale of paper houses in all 166 Home Depot stores across Canada and on-line at www.homedepot.ca for a donation of $2.

The proceeds of this campaign will support the Habitat for Humanity/Home Depot partnership, including the Home Building, Sustainable Building and Non-Build Grants provided to almost 20 Affiliates this year. In addition, if the campaign raises more money than the original budgeted target, then additional funding will be available to support affiliates.

We encourage staff, volunteers, supporters, and ReStore customers, as well as their friends and family to purchase a paper house from a local Home Depot store. For more information visit: The Home Depot Canada Foundation.

Third Build Completed

The Orillia/Lake Country Chapter of Habitat for Humanity has completed its third build. This build is very unique in that it represents the Chapter's first Energy Star efficient home. The home is located in Hawkestone.
